Beginning Knit Three
In this class you will be coached through your choice of 4 projects. Students should already have a grasp on basic knit techniques. This class is not for the first time knitter.
Dates: 2 sessions, March 5, 2017 & March 19, 2017 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM
· Practice your knitting skills
· Cast On; Bind Off; Knit; Pearl; Yarn Over, SSPO; K2tog; & SS
· Experience Reading Charts/Patterns
· 340+ yards worsted yarn
· Size 8 Knitting Needles
· Students should arrive with all necessary materials, yarn caked, and homework completed. See individual project for specific notes.
Feza Fishnet Ponchini by StevenBe (pattern $7.00)
Materials: 924 yards worsted weight yarn 4 colors for even distribution choose 231 yards each. Or be creative and choose more or less of your favorite color
(pattern suggests Feza Yarns Alp Natural)
(other yarn can be substituted if a lacier or chunkier look is desired)
Circular Needles – size US 11
32” & 24” cables
Homework: Using 2 strands of color A, CO 42 sts.
Interlude Shawl by Janina Kallio (pattern $7.13)
Materials: 440 yards sock weight or fingering yarn
US 6 Knitting needle or size to obtain gauge
(pattern suggests Malabrigo Yarn Sock Eden Cottage Yarns Titus 4 ply The Uncommon Thread Posh Fingering)
Homework: Make swatch to determine gauge – not crucial, but helpful to determine yardage)
20 sts. X 40 rows = 10cm/4”
For project: CO 3 sts and knit 9 rows
Bosc Pear Shawl by Tetiana Otruta (free pattern)
Materials: 480 yds fingering weight yarn
(pattern suggests 1 skein of Wolle’s Yarn Creations Color Changing Cotton, 100g)
US 6 Knitting needles or size to obtain gauge
Homework: Make swatch to determine gauge
20 sts. X 32 rows in st. st. blocked
Gauge is not crucial to this project, but different gauges give different finished sizes and may need more yarn to complete the project.
Yarn weight: Worsted (9 wpi) ?
Gauge: 16 stitches and 23 rows = 4 inches
US 7 - 4.5 mm
US 8 - 5.0 mm
US 10 - 6.0 mm
US 11 - 8.0 mm
Yardage: 700 yards (640 m)
